ILOCOS NORTE -- Ponggay Gaston was extra-motivated on Friday afternoon.
After, all she had the rare chance to play in front of a loved one inside the PCV Socio-Civic Cultural Center.
This, as Ponggay's father, Games and Amusements board consultant Fritz Gaston, was part of the delegation that came in to inspect the health and safety protocols of the Premier Volleyball League here in Bacarra.
"Nag inspire siya [dad] sakin of course kasi siyempre namimiss ko rin yung family ko, so seeing him here today it made me happy to see him and it made me really miss my family especially my dog," said Gaston after Choco Mucho's four-set win against BaliPure
"Inspiration siya for me siyempre to do my best for the people at home," she expressed.
With her dad in attendance, Gaston fired nine points to help the Flying Titans fend off the Water Defenders in four sets, 25-23, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21, for their fifth win in as many games.
Now playing inspired volleyball, Gaston hopes to continue her fine showing to help the team get over the final stretch of eliminations.
"We're really glad that we won, we're gonna take the win because a win pero from the looks of our performance we know na there's still so many things na we need to work on, that we need to improve on inside and outside of the court so we're gonna use this game as a lesson para makapagangat pa kami ng laro kasi siyempre palakas nang palakas yung laban ngayon," said the 5-foot-8 winger.
"We still have how many games so this game will not define us and yung mga standings namin di yun nagde-define sa amin kasi siyempre ichachallenge at ichachallenge kami ng mga kalaban so we're gonna improve and keep accepting." (DJ)
