PVL gears up for pre-season action with 'PVL on Tour'

Following the successful staging of the 2024–25 All-Filipino Conference — the league’s longest tournament to date — and the AVC Women’s Club Championship, the Premier Volleyball League is set to bring the game closer to regional fans with the ‘PVL on Tour’ this July.

The PVL on Tour is an off-season tournament that brings teams outside Metro Manila, aiming to connect with fans across the country while giving squads an opportunity to test revamped rosters and stay in competitive form.

PVL President Ricky Palou announced the development during his appearance at Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum on Tuesday.

“Starting July, we will be having what we call the PVL on Tour. Most of the games will be held outside of Metro Manila. We’re gonna play in the Visayas and Mindanao, also in Luzon. So this will go all the way until about September,” said Palou.

Palou also shared that the league is exploring the possibility of inviting foreign teams to join the tournament, in an effort to make it even more exciting for fans in the provinces who rarely get the chance to watch high-level volleyball live.

“By the way, this PVL on Tour, we’re trying to study if we can make it an invitational tournament so we’re looking at the top four [of the All-Filipino Conference] for the invitationals and then we’ll invite foreign teams to come in,” said the long-time volleyball official.

The PVL on Tour will conclude in September as the league will make way for the country’s hosting of the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship.

Following the world tilt, the league will officially resume action with the much-awaited Reinforced Conference.

“Then after that we take a break to give way to the [FIVB] Men’s World Championship. After that, we will resume our third conference which will be the Reinforced Conference."
