PVL head of ops Cesar Malapitan, 60, passes away

The Premier Volleyball League will open its first professional season with heavy hearts.

Cesar Malapitan (November 1, 1960-July 15, 2021), the league's head of operations, had passed away after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday evening.

He was 60 years old.

Malapitan had been part of Sports Vision Management Group Incorporated, the organizer behind the PVL, since 2003. He would also work with the V-League since 2004.

Malapitan was also part of the organizing committee of multiple International Basketball Federation (FIBA) events here in the country.

"We have lost someone we consider a part of the Sports Vision family," said PVL president Ricky Palou. "He has been with us all the way from the very beginning. We will surely miss him."

He is survived by his wife Mila Martin-Malapitan, daughter Camille and son-in-law Luigi Javier, and son Angelo.
