Rald Ricafort trusts Majoy Baron to fill Mika Reyes' shoes

In the wake of Mika Reyes' unfortunate sidelining due to a right shoulder injury, all eyes turn to Majoy Baron as she steps up to fill the void in the PLDT High-Speed Hitters' front line.

Expressing gratitude to head coach Rald Ricafort for his trust and guidance, Baron is poised to take on a more significant role in the upcoming Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.

Ricafort, displaying confidence in Baron's abilities, had previously highlighted her potential to compensate for the absence of Reyes during the PVL Media Day.

Baron acknowledges the support and training provided by Ricafort, emphasizing the unique approach and wealth of knowledge he brings to her game.

"Of course, I’m thankful sa trust ni Coach Rald (Ricafort), kasi kahit sa training pinapakita niya sa akin 'yun, and marami akong natututunan sa kanya since iba ang approach niya sa knowledge na mayroon na ako," said Baron.

Joining the PLDT squad during the off-season, Baron, along with former teammates Kianna Dy and Kim Fajardo, is well aware of the high expectations surrounding her performance in the upcoming conference. The 5-foot-11 middle blocker from Concepcion, Tarlac, is prepared to embrace the challenges and contribute significantly to the team's success.

“Of course, malaking role ang ifi-fill in ko kasi isa 'yun sa mga naging reason kung bakit ako nag-PLDT kasi kailangan nila ng middle dahil nga magsu-surgery si Ate Mika,” said Baron.

“May bigger role to fill in and ready lang ako kung ano ang ibigay sa akin na job ng coach kasi I trust the system, I trust the management. And kung ano man ang role na 'yun,” she added.

"I’m willing to step up.”
