Petro Gazz faced an onslaught of setbacks as they navigated through a challenging phase in the league.
Just on the heels of a fourth consecutive defeat, the Angels delivered another blow to their fans. The announcement came that Ranya Musa, the formidable middle blocker, would be sidelined for the rest of the Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference due to an unfortunate ACL tear in her right knee, as disclosed by the team on a gloomy Friday.
In an official statement, the Angels expressed their regret, stating, "We regret to inform the public that, after an MRI scan and consultation with doctors, it has been confirmed that our middle blocker, Ranya Musa, sustained a complete anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in her right knee during our Angels' November 11 game against the Cignal HD Spikers."
Musa, who played a pivotal role in Petro Gazz's blazing 4-0 start to the season, incurred the injury during their four-set clash against Cignal at the Philsports Arena last Saturday. The blow proved to be not just a setback but a season-ending one, as Musa is now scheduled to undergo surgery to repair her ACL.
The former College of St. Benilde standout's absence was keenly felt as Petro Gazz plummeted in performance, suffering four consecutive losses that dropped them to sixth place with a 4-4 win-loss standing.
Despite the challenges, the management of Petro Gazz reassured fans and supporters that Musa would receive all the necessary support for her recovery. In their statement, they pledged, "The team and the management will provide our full support as she prepares for the season-ending procedure, ensuring that she receives the utmost medical attention needed for a full recovery from this setback."
As the team faces adversity, they called upon the collective strength of their supporters, saying, "We hope you can join us in prayer and support for Ranya as she overcomes this challenge in her career." The road ahead for Petro Gazz has become steeper, but with the rallying cry for support, they aim to turn the tide and emerge stronger from this challenging chapter in their sports journey.
