Sisi Rondina announced her arrival in the Premier Volleyball League with a resounding bang.
As the Invitational Conference unfolded, Rondina left spectators awe-struck as she emerged as the highest scorer in the group phase, cementing her position as one of the league's most promising young talents.
Over the course of five games in Pool B, the dynamic 5-foot-6 high-leaper from the University of Santo Tomas showcased her immense talent, leading the Flying Titans to a commendable 3-2 win-loss record.
With an impressive 104 points to her name, Rondina's explosive performances left opponents struggling to contain her lethal spikes and lightning-fast reflexes.
The Flying Titans may have narrowly missed a spot in the semifinals, but Rondina's stellar contribution was undeniable, solidifying her status as a force to be reckoned with.
Not only did she top the league in points scored, but Rondina also proved her prowess as the second-best spiker, boasting an outstanding success rate of 39.57 percent in 230 attempts. Her tenacity and versatility on the court were further evident as she secured the seventh spot in the digs category, with an average of 2.84 per set.
What makes her performance even more remarkable is the fact that she was transitioning back to indoor play after dedicating herself to beach volleyball for the past four years.
Rondina's success on the court can be attributed, in part, to the guidance of her coach, Dante Alinsunurin. Acknowledging the young star's potential for even greater heights, Alinsunurin affirmed that there is still much more to come from the talented player.
The coach's belief in Rondina's abilities and the team's collective effort has fostered an environment of collaboration and growth.
Looking ahead, Rondina remains steadfast in her commitment to Choco Mucho's success.
"I just said that we will continue what we've been doing because Coach's program is effective and excellent. So, we'll go back to the drawing board, training again, and working hard," said Rondina.
Despite their preliminary round exit, Coach Alinsunurin maintains a positive outlook for Choco Mucho's future. The team's early triumphs and their ability to compete against formidable opponents provide a glimpse of their potential.
With emerging talents like Caitlin Viray complementing Rondina's exceptional abilities, alongside contributions from players like Des Cheng, Maddie Madayag, and Cherry Nunag, the Flying Titans have shown promising signs of growth and cohesiveness.
