Santiago excited to face Valdez in Finals series

ILOCOS NORTE --There is no doubt that Creamline's Alyssa Valdez and Chery Tiggo's Jaja Santiago are the country's top two players.

So it is just fitting to let Philippine volleyball end up with the two titans of the game clashing on the biggest stage of all--the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference finals.

And Santiago, who has improved tremendously after her Japan League experience, is looking forward to a titanic collision with her former teammate and a player she considers as an elder influence.

"I think it will be a tough game between Ate Ly (Valdez) and my team. Tingin ko Ate Ly is Ate Ly magpeperform talaga siya ng best niya and me also," said Santiago moments after the Crossovers downed the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 25-16, 26-24, 25-23, Tuesday at the PCV Socio-Civic & Cultural Center here in Bacarra to advance to the best-of-three finale.

"I will do my best to perform and deliver for my team," she added.

Santiago said she aims to win it all and add to her crown after helping Ageo Medics win in Japan.

"I'm really, really eager to win the finals talaga kasi siyempre kung nagawa ko international, why not naman ditto sa atin," said Santiago. "Tiwala ako sa team ko na talagang kakayanin namin, sama kami hanggang dulo."

Game One is set Wednesday and Game Two Thursday. A decider, if necessary, is on Friday. (VJ)
