Sherwin Meneses, now a seven-time champion in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), remains as humble as ever. Even as Creamline Cool Smashers made history by achieving the league’s first-ever Grand Slam, Meneses was quick to shine the spotlight on everyone involved in the victory—from the top-tier management to the behind-the-scenes staff.
The energy in the SMART Araneta Coliseum was electric after Creamline's nail-biting 21-25, 25-17, 20-25, 26-24, 15-13 triumph over Cignal in the 2024 PVL Invitational Conference gold medal match. With that win, the Cool Smashers added their 10th title to their collection, further solidifying their dominance in the league.
“As of now, syempre sobrang saya namin na lalo na kami, ako. Hindi madali kunin tong Grand Slam pero nakuha namin,” Meneses expressed, still riding high on the thrill of victory. The win marked not only a historic milestone for the team but also a personal triumph for Meneses, who took over the reins in 2022.
Meneses credits much of Creamline’s continued success to the relentless efforts of his players and the staff who, day in and day out, work tirelessly behind the scenes. He praised their dedication, saying, “Thankful sa management, sa players, and sa mga staff namin na talagang nandiyan lagi, 5:30 a.m., 5 a.m., so thank you talaga sa kanila."
While Meneses has only been at the helm of the Cool Smashers for three years, his track record with the team is nothing short of remarkable. Under his leadership, Creamline has bagged seven championships, one silver, and one bronze.
From the moment he accepted the coaching job, Meneses had one clear vision: to build a dynasty in the country’s first and only professional volleyball league. That vision came to fruition as Creamline continued to excel and grow under his guidance. But he knows this success didn’t happen in isolation—it was the collective support from management and the entire organization that allowed the team to reach new heights.
“Syempre kasi yung nagstart yung Creamline talagang supportive na talaga yung management, so number one talaga is yung management na nakikita mo na magsa-succeed talaga yung team,” Meneses said, emphasizing how crucial the Ng family and team management, led by Alan Acero, were in the team’s journey.
“Sobrang supportive nila sa court, sa financial ng mga players, so sobrang supportive nila. Makikita namin talaga magsa-succeed yung Creamline because number one naman talaga is management,” he added, underlining the full backing Creamline players receive, from physical conditioning to financial stability.
With their 10th title secured and the Grand Slam now part of their legacy, the Cool Smashers have no plans of slowing down. Meneses, while reveling in the moment, hinted that this was just the beginning. Creamline’s winning culture, built on discipline, dedication, and unwavering support from management, suggests that their reign is far from over.
