Sherwin Meneses' name seems to carry a fitting prophecy — winning has become his signature as a coach.
On Tuesday, Meneses reached an impressive milestone, becoming the PVL's winningest head coach after steering Creamline to a decisive 25-10, 27-25, 25-21 victory over Chery Tiggo in Game 1 of their 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference quarterfinal series. The win marked Meneses' 100th PVL coaching victory, a feat achieved in just three years and one day since his debut win on March 17, 2022, against PLDT.
In that short span, Meneses' record boasts an impressive 100 wins with only 15 losses, giving him a remarkable 86.9% winning percentage. This dominance is a testament to Meneses' ability to inspire his players and build cohesive teams.
Despite the milestone, Meneses remains grounded, prioritizing future victories over individual achievements.
"Ayun masaya at na-achieve yung 100 wins pero sana mas marami pang panalo na dumating, especially this season, this conference na madagdagan yung panalo pa, especially sa mga next games namin," he said.
Meneses has claimed seven PVL titles, further cementing his reputation as a winning tactician. His coaching prowess isn't limited to the PVL; he also guides National University's women's volleyball squad in the UAAP. Under his leadership, the Lady Bulldogs delivered a flawless 7-0 first-round campaign this season.
For Meneses, success is built on discipline, teamwork, and continuous growth.
"Doon lang naman ako nagfo-focus palagi. So, hopefully, magtuloy-tuloy and mag-improve pa palagi 'yung team na hinahawakan ko. Mababait naman talaga sila, so masusunurin naman. Kailangan 'yung chemistry ng coaches and players okay talaga," he added.
