The returning Shola Alvarez provided F2 Logistics a lift in their straight-sets win over PLDT in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference, Tuesday.
Alvarez, who missed the Cargo Movers’ last two games due to health and safety protocols, stepped up in Kalei Mau’s absence against the High Speed Hitters.
The former NCAA Most Valuable Player scored six points off the bench to go along with seven excellent receptions to help F2 Logistics take a quick 25-19, 25-22, 25-20 win over PLDT at the PhilSports Arena.
For her part, Alvarez said that she just wanted to help the team as Mau suffered an undisclosed injury which once again put a dent in the Cargo Movers roster which already saw the likes of Dawn Macandili, Tin Tiamzon, CJ Woo, and import Lindsay Stalzer miss games due to different reasons.
“Siyempre malaking part po yung laging sinasabi ni Coach Boc [Benson] na ready lang lagi. So lagi siya tumatatak sa isip ko na lagi lang ako handa anytime bunutin ako ni coach from bench,” said Alvarez.
“Nakakatuwa na lahat naman nag-step up lahat naman may ginawa para ipanalo yung game,” she added.
On the other hand, Bocboc was just glad someone like Alvarez who he could rely on especially in testing times like this.
“Well siyempre pagbabalik, pagkagaling sa balik okay na so above average. But I’m expecting more from her of course bago si Shola sa team medyo nakikita pa natin hindi pa mailabas yung kaya niya gawin andon pa rin nag hihintay ako pero lalabas din yan anytime soon.”
