Sta. Lucia arrests skid to keep semis hope alive

ILOCOS NORTE -- Sta. Lucia snapped a two-game skid with a 25-23, 25-20, 22-25, 25-18 victory over Black Mamba Army in a duel of struggling teams, Monday at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center here in Bacarra.

The Lady Realtors moved to sixth with a 2-3 card with the victory.

Jovy Prado shone in her first start for the Lady Realtors, dropping 17 points.

The Realtors rebounded from a third set defeat with a big run in the fourth then checked a shaky windup with a couple of clutch plays, the last on a Jonah Sabete down-the-line power hit that wrapped up the hard-earned victory.

MJ Phillips had 14 points while Sabete tallied 14 digs and 13 points.

"Yun minsan ang sakit namin. Yung titigil, tapos tatrabaho ulit, titigil tapos trabaho," rued Sta. Lucia head coach Eddieson Orcullo.

"Simple lang, sinabi ko lang na nandito na tayo, e di ba? Baka pagdating sa dulo mag sisihan pa tayo."

Royse Tubino and Ging Balse-Pabayo led Black Mamba-Army with 13 points each.

The Lady Troopers fell to 1-3 for joint eighth with Cignal.
