Sta. Lucia treating each game with do-or-die mindset

ILOCOS NORTE -- After a rocky start to its Premier Volleyball Campaign, Sta. Lucia is now treating every match as a championship game, according to MJ Phillips.

And it has definitely been showing over the past two games for the Lady Realtors.

Two points short of securing the game against Chery Tiggo, Phillips left it all out on the defensive end of the winner-take-all fifth set.

During the span, she rejected Dindin Santiago-Manabat and joined hands with Dell Palomata for another block on the same hitter.

That proved to be what the Lady Realtors needed to fend off Chery Tiggo after blowing a 2-0 advantage.

"We're getting our rhythm and we're just hungry and we just wanna keep winning. We have to just fight and leave it all out on the court just like a championship game every game," said the 26-year-old, California-raised Phillips.

"There's just a flip of switch in us that we were just like we gotta go, it's now or never," she added.

When the dust settled, the 6-foot Phillips dropped a conference-best 23 points off 16 attacks, five blocks, and two aces to lead Sta. Lucia's escape act of Chery Tiggo, 25-20, 25-12, 24-26, 21-25, 15-10, at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center here on Wednesday.

"Just go for everything and not let anything drop. We just gotta keep pushing whether we're tired or we're out of rhythm, we just gotta keep going and dig deep." (DJ)
