After staying with Perlas for the last four years, Nicole Tiamzon found herself in a different team after her former team took a leave of absence for the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.
Gladly, she found a new home in the Petro Gazz Angels, who, according to her, gave her a warm welcome and accepted her with open arms. And for that, she's grateful.
"I feel very grateful din kasi 'pag pasok kasi siyempre first time ko rin to go out of my team talaga," said the former University of the Philippines star after the Petro Gazz's 25-22, 19-25, 25-22, 25-18 victory over the PLDT High Speed Hitters on Monday afternoon.
"Very supportive yung mga seniors sa Petro Gazz and nakakatuwa din kasi talagang ang gagaling nila e. Ang gagaling nila and very friendly lahat e," she added.
Tiamzon has been one of the key figures of Perlas since 2017, leading the team to three bronze finishes in the PVL while also taking the First Best Open Spiker award in the 2019 Reinforced Conference.
The pride of Taytay, Rizal took charge in the team's win against PLDT, scoring a game-high 13 points as the Angels surged to a 2-0 start in Pool B.
With her performance, Petro Gazz head tactician Jerry Yee, who coached Tiamzon back when she was with the Lady Maroons, was glad to finally have her former ward on her side. He also praised Tiamzon's efficiency on offense against the High Speed Hitters.
"Si Tiammy maaasahan mo sa opensa e, so yung palo niya, yung pitik ng wrist niya ever since ganiyan naman sa UP 'yan e. Buti may ganiyan kami e," said Yee.
"Ni-rotate natin siya then yun na nga ang dami na pala niyang contributions. It turns out mas less pa yung errors niya so ayun POG pala siya so ayun, malalim lalim yung rotation natin, maganda yung meron tayong puwedeng hugutin 'pag ka may problema."
