ILOCOS NORTE -- Kat Tolentino's offensive exploits has been an integral piece in Choco Mucho's unbeaten run in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.
But the 6-foot-1 spiker, who is averaging 17.3 points per game in the Flying Titans' league-best 6-0 start, still deflected the credit to her teammates.
"I think it was a team win, everyone contributed with receive, defense, setting, spiking, I'm just thankful that we're all working together. I wouldn't have been able to spike without these girls and without their consistent efforts," said the 2018 PVL Open Conference Best Opposite Spiker following Choco Mucho's sweep of Black Mamba-Army on Monday.
Tolentino produced a game-high 18 points as the Flying Titans dispatched the Lady Troopers via a 25-19, 25-23, 25-19 result at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center.
According to Tolentino, it's all about embracing the role that Choco Mucho head coach Oliver Almadro set for them.
And she's very much happy after seeing everyone in the team accept and fulfill their respective duties.
"Well, for me that's the role that coach gave me and I'm just able to do my role because my teammates are doing their roles," said Tolentino.
"It's not just me actually, it looks like it because I'm the one scoring but in the end, if the team doesn't receive, if they don't set, if they don't dig and defend, if the middles don't fake the blockers, I can't spike. So I'm just thankful that it really is a team effort and it's not just my spiking." (VJ)
