Top honor awaits Tots Carlos at PSA Awards Night

Diana Mae ‘Tots’ Carlos is set to take center stage at the upcoming San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association (SMC-PSA) Awards Night, slated for two weeks from now.

At 25 years old, Carlos will be honored as Ms. Volleyball during the formal event scheduled for January 29 at the grand ballroom of the Diamond Hotel.

Joining her as special awardees from the country’s oldest media organization, led by president Nelson Beltran, sports editor of The Philippine Star, are Alex Eala (Ms. Tennis), June Mar Fajardo (Mr. Basketball), and Sarina Bolden (Ms. Football), recognized for their exceptional accomplishments in their respective fields throughout 2023.

All four outstanding individuals are among the 130-plus awardees acknowledged in the PSA honor roll.

Carlos solidified her status as one of the nation's premier volleyball players by guiding Creamline to victory in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) First All-Filipino Conference against Petro Gazz, stepping into the spotlight in the absence of the injured star Alyssa Valdez.

In the same competition, the University of the Philippines alumna from Lubao, Pampanga, was named PVL MVP, securing this prestigious individual honor for the third time.

Before the close of 2023, Carlos continued her stellar performance by steering the Cool Smashers to triumph in the Second All-Filipino Conference.

In this championship, she was named Finals MVP after orchestrating a two-game sweep of Choco Mucho, drawing a record crowd of 24,459 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
