THREE-TIME Premier Volleyball League Most Valuable Player Tots Carlos of Creamline will lead the all-pro, 14-woman squad for the indoor volleyball national team that will compete in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games.
Serving as team captain of the squad is three-time league MVP Alyssa Valdez.
Joining Carlos and Valdez from Creamline are Jia De Guzman, Kyla Atienza, Ced Domingo, Jema Galanza, and Michele Gumabao.
The Cool Smashers recently won the PVL All-Filipino Conference 2023 after defeating Petro Gazz in an epic three-game series.
Completing the squad are PLDT's Kath Arado and Dell Palomata; Chery Tiggo's Mylene Paat; Cignal's Gel Cayuna and Glaudine Troncoso; and Choco Mucho's Cherry Nunag and Kat Tolentino.
“These teams are composed of perhaps the most formidable rosters to date with each and everyone of these athletes dedicated and determined to rise to the challenge in Cambodia,” PNVF president Ramon “Tats” Suzara said.
“With the skills given and dedication to flag and country considered, our coaches put premium on chemistry, on how these players would blend based on the competitions and challenges of the SEA Games,” Suzara added.
Serving as head coach of the team is Akari's Jorge Edson Souza De Brito.
Part of De Brito's staff are Sherwin Meneses (assistant coach), Cherry Rose Macatangay (assistant coach) Raffy Mosuela (trainer), Grace Gomez (strength and conditioning coach) and Ma. Fe Moran (team manager).
For the women's beach volleyball team, the team will be composed of Sisi Rondina, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Bernadeth Pons, and Dij Rodriguez.
The indoor volleyball competitions in Cambodia begin two days ahead of the opening ceremony on May 3 at the Morodok Techo Elephant Hall while beach volleyball starts on May 11 at Otres Beach in Preah Sihanouk (Sihanoukville) Province with the finals of both on May 16.
