Tubu's career-high 33 points power Farm Fresh vs Galeries

Trisha Tubu produced another sterling performance, unleashing a relentless barrage of spikes from all angles to power Farm Fresh past Galeries Tower, 28-26, 17-25, 25-19, 25-17, in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference preliminaries at the Philsports Arena on Thursday.

The promising lefty from Tarlac set a new career-high with an astonishing 33 points, eclipsing her previous best of 32 markers against Choco Mucho on April 24, 2024. But unlike in their narrow five-set defeat to the Flying Titans, this time, Tubu’s offensive brilliance propelled the Foxies to a decisive victory, reigniting their campaign in the centerpiece tournament of the league organized by Sports Vision.

Tubu, known for her powerful swings and fearless attacking style, delivered the final blows with back-to-back kills that sealed the match in one hour and 54 minutes. Her stellar play underscored not only her offensive prowess but also her ability to step up when it mattered most, cementing her status as one of the most explosive young hitters in the league backed by Watsons.

More than just a scorer, Tubu demonstrated her versatility and all-around skill set, making her case as a future superstar. She was not only a dominant presence at the net but also a potent force from the service line, firing four aces to destabilize the Highrisers' defense.

Her ability to generate points through multiple avenues makes her one of the most dangerous weapons in the league today.

With the win, Farm Fresh improved to an even 4-4 record, joining Akari and ZUS Coffee at seventh place in the standings.

Meanwhile, Galeries Tower continued to struggle, falling to 1-7, as coach Lerma Giron searched for solutions to their ongoing woes.

Farm Fresh also outgunned Galeries Tower in attacks, 57-42, with Tubu receiving ample support from teammates Alyssa Bertolano, who came away with 11 points, Jolina dela Cruz, who added 10 markers, and Rizza Cruz, who contributed eight points.

The Highrisers, despite commendable efforts from Ysa Jimenez (15 points), Andrea Marzan (10), France Ronquillo (9), Jewel Encarnacion (8), and Roselle Baliton (7), simply had no answers for Tubu’s relentless assault.

Beyond her scoring exploits, Tubu’s rise as one of the league’s fiercest spikers is undeniable. Her ability to find openings against well-formed defensive walls, coupled with her high volleyball IQ and exceptional timing, sets her apart from many young hitters in the league.

With each game, she continues to prove that she is not just a rising star but a potential cornerstone for Benson Bocboc-handled Farm Fresh’s success in the years to come.

Anchoring the Foxies’ dominant performance was Louie Romero, who orchestrated the offense masterfully with 19 excellent sets, outshining her counterpart Julia Coronel, who managed 13. Bertolano also showcased her defensive prowess, finishing with seven excellent digs and 12 receptions.
