Akari reloads with three new signings

Akari is ready to hit the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference with a deeper roster.

The Chargers confirmed on Saturday the signing of three new players: Cza Carandang, Judith Abil, and Jyne Soreño.

Carandang, coming from the now-defunct Chery Tiggo, is expected to reinforce the Chargers’ frontline with her height and net skills, complementing Ced Domingo and Fifi Sharma after Ezra Madrigal’s exit.

Abil, a reliable all-around performer from Cignal, has shown she can step up when her team needs her, while Soreño, the eighth overall pick in the previous draft, will provide scoring punch off the bench—a role she excelled at during her time with Chery Tiggo.

Despite dealing with injuries last season, Akari secured a bronze medal in the Reinforced Conference.

With a healthier and more balanced lineup, the Chargers are aiming to make a stronger impact in the upcoming all-Filipino tilt.
