Barroga named Sta. Lucia head coach

Sta. Lucia has brought in Edgar Barroga as its head coach for the upcoming Premier Volleyball League conference.

Barroga replaced Eddieson Orcullo, who steered the Lady Realtors to a fifth-place finish in the recently-concluded Open Conference last month.

"First of all, medyo overwhelmed ako," expressed Barroga, who was the former head coach of Cignal.

In naming Barroga as head coach, team manager Buddy Encarnado had one marching order for him -- make the final four.

This early, Barroga is already looking at what needs to be done to help improve the team's roster.

"China-challenge ako ni Sir Buddy. Wala akong magawa kung hindi magplano ng maaga kahit wala pang kasiguraduhan yung next conference para mas ma-assist ko pa yung players at kung ano pa yung mga kulang ng team namin," he said.

And it's because Barroga wants to repay the trust given to him by Sta. Lucia's brass.

"Nakita ko yung potential nila. Ang target namin kagad is top four. Pagdating sa top four, dun tayo ulit mangangarap," he said.

(DJ)
