Cignal has secured the services of 6-foot-2 wing spiker MJ Perez for the upcoming Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference, the team confirmed on Wednesday.
Perez, a seasoned player with prior experience in the Philippines, joins an impressive lineup including Ces Molina, Vanie Gandler, and Jovelyn Gonzaga, as Cignal gears up for the import-laden competition set to kick off next month.
Hailing from Venezuela, the 32-year-old brings a wealth of international experience to the squad, having competed extensively across various leagues worldwide.
Most recently, Perez showcased her skills at Alexandria Sporting Club VC in Egypt and has also made appearances in Puerto Rico, Finland, Cyprus, France, Indonesia, Italy, and Vietnam.
Perez, a South American Championship bronze medalist, represented Venezuela in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, finishing 11th with her national team.
She previously contributed to the success of former PVL team F2 Logistics during the late 2010s.
Cignal, which encountered challenges in previous conferences, aims to leverage Perez's experience and skillset to elevate its performance in the upcoming season.
In the recently concluded All-Filipino Conference, the HD Spikers cfished their campaign in sixth place with a 7-4 record, missing out on the semifinals.
