It’s been three months since Creamline ruled the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
Since then, three new teams are ready to challenge the order while new players are ready for their next journey.
Definitely, the game has changed.
"We can safely say that this upcoming Invitational Conference of the Premier Volleyball League is the biggest local volleyball tournament the country will ever see for now. Safe to say, the best of the best in Philippine volleyball is now in one home," said Ricky Palou, President of Sports Vision.
BEST ROOKIE CLASS EVER
Chery Tiggo scored the biggest haul in arguably the best rookie class to grace the PVL.
Coming off a fifth-place finish last conference, the Crossovers reloaded, adding the University of Santo Tomas duo of Eya Laure and Imee Hernandez, along with the National University trio of Jennifer Nierva, Princess Robles, and Joyme Cagande.
Not to be outdone was F2 Logistics, signing three of the seven players that composed the UAAP Season 85 Mythical Team -- namely 1st Best Outside Spiker Jolina Dela Cruz, Best Setter Mars Alba, and Best Opposite Spiker Jovelyn Fernandez.
The Ateneo de Manila University tandem of Faith Nisperos and Vanie Gandler will be on opposing sides in their pro debuts as well.
Nisperos will be the ace of Akari while Gandler became the first Atenean to join Cignal.
Newcomer Farm Fresh and Gerflor also tapped aces from the UAAP with the Foxies picking Trisha Tubu, Kate Santiago, Pia Ildefonso, and Joan Narit out of their respective nests while Maroons Alyssa Bertolano and Ethan Arce found a new home with the Defenders.
Not to be outdone are Rebisco teams Creamline and Choco Mucho.
Beach volleyball icons Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons are headed back to the indoor game with the former boosting the Flying Titans while the latter going to an already-loaded Cool Smashers team.
NEW CHALLENGERS
Three new clubs are out to make a name for themselves starting with the Invitational Conference.
Gerflor has been raring to prove that it belongs with the best, competing in various competitions prior to joining the PVL.
Meanwhile, Farm Fresh will bank on chemistry as it also got the core of defending NCAA champion College of Saint Benilde.
The two neophytes also got veteran coaches for their maiden campaigns with the Defenders tapping former Cignal coach Edgar Barroga while the Foxies got ex-Petro Gazz mentor Jerry Yee.
Also returning to volleyball competition is Foton.
The Crossovers, multiple-time champions in defunct league Philippine Superliga, will have 2021 Open Conference champions Shaya Adorador and Jamine Nabor lead the way.
BIGGER PLATFORM
With the biggest volleyball to date having its first serve on June 27, 2023, Cignal TV will launch a new streaming app for a better viewing experience.
