ILOCOS NORTE -- PLDT Home Fibr finally nailed the win that has eluded the Power Hitters in their first six matches in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference, scoring a surprise straight-set 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 victory over a stunned Perlas side at the PCV Socio-Civic Cultural Center in Bacarra.
Already eliminated from contention, PLDT did not want to go home empty handed, making this victory sweet.
"Kami naman simula umpisa hinahabol namin yung confidence level namin, tapos yung mga bata naman masipag, kaya lang neneng nene pa yung team eh. Pero kagandahan naman ngayon, nag respond sila may pinractice kasi kami kahapon," said PLDT head coach Roger Gorayeb, the only triple crown champion in the V-League.
"Nagpapasalamat talaga ako [sa panalo], para maibalik din yung confidence ng mga bata. Nakakuha na kami, lalaban pa kami may dalawang laro pa kami," he continued.
Leading the way for PLDT was Isa Molde, a Finals MVP in the collegiate division of this league back in 2019. She had 14 points on 12 attacks and two aces.
Chin Basas and Jorelle Singh supported their young gun with 11 points each while Alyssa Eroa protected the floor with 22 digs and nine receptions.
Cherry Nunag led Perlas with 14 points.
The Spikers fell to 1-4 and in danger of missing the post-season play with four games left in their schedule.
