Victories have been hard to come by ever since Erika Deloria joined Galeries Tower, but forged by her experiences, she keeps showing up, knowing favorable results will soon come their way.
The Highrisers were luckless in their first four games of the 2026-27 PVL All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series, but they finally broke through on Tuesday.
Thanks to Deloria’s standout performance.
After being swept by Farm Fresh in its opener, Galeries Tower lost three more games via four-setters before finally getting over the hump on a 25-22, 26-24, 23-25, 15-25, 15-10 escape over Akari at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
The 5-foot-7 outside spiker led them to their first win with 20 points on 18 attacks and two aces; she complemented it with 28-of-42 excellent receptions, and for that standout performance, Deloria was hailed as the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week for the period of November 3 to 7.
With that crucial victory, the Highrisers moved to 1-4 at eighth place but could be the spark they were waiting badly for to jump in the heated race to the semifinals.
For the 2025 PVL Draft 20th overall pick, as long as you put in the work, the wins will follow.
“I think if you want to be a champion, you have to go through din sa mga tough times din. If malagpasan ‘yung mga ‘yun, naniniwala ako na kaya mong manalo, kaya mong lagpasan lahat ng hirap na ‘yan kasi you have to be mentally tough,” shared Deloria.
“Kahit ayaw mo na mag-training kasi talo ka, kailangan mo pa rin mag-show up. Ganun eh, kailangan mo talagang maging strong,” continued the Enderun Colleges product.
After the disbandment of Chery Tiggo, the team that drafted her, Deloria signed with Galeries Tower in January this year, winning just three of their 11 games in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference ruled by Creamline in April.
That was part of the experiences that made her stronger and unfazed even after their 0-4 start this ongoing conference.
“For me, maganda siyang start for us kasi syempre 0-4 po kami so medyo nakakababa po ng morale. Pero at the same time dun din kami natututo na marami pa kaming kailangan ayusin and also communicate and then I think lumabas siya this game,” said the Bacolod native.
“Very thankful ako sa coaches and teammates na araw-araw nagsho-show up pa rin kahit ganon.”
Deloria bested PLDT’s Savi Davison, Nxled duo Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips, Farm Fresh’s Royse Tubino, and Akari’s Eli Soyud for the weekly recognition deliberated by print and online reporters covering the pioneering professional volleyball league organized by Sports Vision.
Galeries Tower will look to make it two victories in a row when it battles winless ZUS Coffee on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the Big Dome.
