Tina Salak set for coaching return with Akari

Volleyball legend Tina Salak is set to make a comeback after nearly a year-long hiatus, this time donning the role of assistant coach for the Akari Chargers, as announced by the team on a momentous Wednesday.

Salak's journey back into the volleyball arena follows her departure from the head coaching position at Far Eastern University's women's volleyball team in June, a move made in anticipation of her relocation to the United States.

Now, with a fresh chapter awaiting her, Salak is ready to contribute her wealth of experience to the Akari Chargers.

The legendary setter, celebrated for her remarkable career and numerous accolades, will be supporting interim head coach Raffy Mosuela as they navigate the challenges of the upcoming season with a roster brimming with talent.

In an official Facebook post, Akari warmly welcomed Coach Tina Salak, expressing their excitement about her joining the coaching staff.

The post read, “Welcome to the Akari Chargers, Assistant Coach Tina Salak. We have seen how she has elevated her teams in the past, which is why we are thrilled to see how she will contribute to the growth of our players this season. We are delighted to have you on our squad, Coach Tina.”

Salak, a former Southeast Asian Games bronze medalist, brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Chargers.

Her last coaching stint dates back to UAAP Season 85, where she came tantalizingly close to steering the Lady Tamaraws to the Final Four, securing a commendable fifth-place finish.

As the Akari Chargers gear up for the challenges ahead, the addition of Tina Salak to the coaching staff promises a new era of leadership and mentorship.
