Creamline to rep PH anew, marches to ASEAN GP

PVL Open and Invitational Conference champion Creamline will continue to represent the Philippines.

Up next for the AVC Cup for Women sixth-placers is the 2022 ASEAN Grand Prix to be held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

The first leg will be on September 9 to 11 while the second leg is yet to be determined. Teams to face are Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

“Yes ‘yun ‘yung sabi ng management sa amin maglalaro kami sa ASEAN Grand Prix. We have two days break then balik na kami sa ensayo," shared head coach Sherwin Meneses after their straight sets loss to Chinese Taipei on Monday.

“Hopefully madala namin ‘yung exposure dito going to Thailand,” he added, whose team recorded the Philippines' best finish ever in AVC.

It is now a wait-and-see if Creamline's heart and soul Alyssa Valdez can be back in time for the next tournament.

Two days before the opening of the AVC Cup, Valdez was announced out of the entirety of the tilt due to dengue fever.

“Hindi ko pa masagot pero hopefully makabalik siya para syempre, iba naman talaga ‘yung ambag ni Alyssa sa team pero syempre ‘yung health niya muna ang concern namin,” Meneses on the Cool Smashers captain.

After capturing the PVL Invitational Conference last August 14, Creamline only had a week before the start of the AVC Cup. ASEAN Grand Prix will be its third tournament in a span of a month.

But for the flag and country, the Cool Smashers are always willing to sacrifice.

“‘Yung team familiarity at team chemistry napakahalaga dito sa tournament na ito. Thank you sa mga players talaga na never sumuko dito.”
